El Colegio de Panamá, aiming to enhance our students in all areas and fulfilling the commitment made to our educational community, launches the Mighty Eagles as our emblem in various sports disciplines such as soccer, football, basketball, and more.

Why Mighty Eagles?

The name "Mighty Eagles" was chosen for several reasons. According to the Real Academia Española dictionary, the eagle is a bird of prey, known for its keen vision, strong muscles, and rapid flight. It's also used to describe people who are sharp and perceptive.

The eagle has been used as a symbol in various ancient and modern contexts, including the Roman legion and modern armies. It appears on the gold coins of Spain, Mexico, and the United States of America, as well as on the coat of arms of the Republic of Panama.

In the Bible, the eagle is mentioned as a strong, renewed, brave, and blessed animal, which serves as the primary inspiration for the name "Mighty Eagles." Isaiah 40:31 states, "...but those who trust in the Lord will renew their strength; they will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."

Furthermore, since the Harpy Eagle is the national bird of Panama, the "Mighty Eagles" are also identified with it.

"The Harpy Eagle is unique in its genus, being the largest in the hemisphere and one of the strongest animals in the world. It possesses extraordinary vision, occupies the highest level of the food chain, and plays a significant role in ecosystem balance. It inhabits humid tropical forests from Southern Mexico to Northern Argentina. In Panama, it can be found in mountainous regions of the Caribbean where large amounts of forests still exist."
